The Legs Behind The Lakes & Fells Dog
Walking Company is...Claire
With a love for those creatures with four legs and a bark, and a passion for the muddy outdoors, it was just a matter of time before Claire established 'Lakes & Fells Dog Walking Company,' a dog walking and dog sitting service, which is based in Kendal. If she has one regret, it's that she didn't take the plunge sooner...after all, the best way to celebrate a passion is to pursue it through work. But here's the thing, walking pooches in and around Kendal and the the Lake District as well as providing daily dog sitting care feels more akin to a vocation than the daily grind. During her youth, she worked in a dog rescue centre and also a veterinary practice.
Claire was raised with the canine variety and as soon as she became a teen, she rescued her own Lurcher puppy, a skinny, malnourished, abandoned girl, destined to be euthanized that same day by dog kennels in Newcastle. The story over the following 20 years has continued along a similar theme, only now she has both dogs and children, an amazing heady mix, which replicates her own childhood where she developed a love of all animals and a passion for animal welfare.
Claire is naturally sociable so gets along with the human folk as well as the canine ones. She is an outdoors' enthusiast and loves the challenge of a big hill. Indeed, when she is not walking pooches, she can usually be found fell walking with her family.
